Equipment

  • Pot for Boiling Eggs

Ingredients

Egg Filling

  • 6 large eggs hard-boiled and peeled
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/8 tsp paprika plus more for garnish
  • salt and pepper to taste

Spider Decorations

  • 1 large can large black olives
  • red pepper slice or hot sauce optional

Instructions

  • Slice the hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a small bowl.
  • Mash the yolks with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
  • To make spiders: Slice a black olive in half lengthwise for the spider body. Place one half on top of the deviled egg. Slice another olive half into thin strips for the legs. Arrange 4 legs on each side of the body.
  • Add a tiny dot of mayonnaise or a small piece of red pepper to the head for eyes. Sprinkle with a light dusting of paprika. Chill until ready to serve.

Notes

For a 'bloody' effect, add a drop of hot sauce to the yolk mixture or drizzle on top. Use a piping bag for a neater filling presentation.
