A creepy-crawly twist on a classic appetizer. These deviled eggs are topped with a black olive 'spider' for a spooky and protein-packed Halloween snack.
Slice the hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a small bowl.
Mash the yolks with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
To make spiders: Slice a black olive in half lengthwise for the spider body. Place one half on top of the deviled egg. Slice another olive half into thin strips for the legs. Arrange 4 legs on each side of the body.
Add a tiny dot of mayonnaise or a small piece of red pepper to the head for eyes. Sprinkle with a light dusting of paprika. Chill until ready to serve.
Notes
For a 'bloody' effect, add a drop of hot sauce to the yolk mixture or drizzle on top. Use a piping bag for a neater filling presentation.
