Equipment

- Spatula
Ingredients
Burger Patties
- 1.5 lbs ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- salt and black pepper to taste
For Assembly
- 4 slices cheese cheddar, American, or your choice
- 4 burger buns toasted
- lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato sliced
- 1/4 red onion thinly sliced
- ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise to serve
Instructions
- Preheat grill to high heat.
- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and gently form into patties, slightly wider than your buns. Press a slight dimple in the center of each patty to prevent bulging.
- Grill patties for 4-5 minutes on the first side. Flip, top with cheese, and grill for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness, or to your preference.
- Toast the buns on the grill for the last minute.
- Let the patties rest for 2 minutes. Assemble burgers with your favorite toppings and condiments. Serve immediately.
Notes
Handle the meat as little as possible to keep the burgers tender. The dimple in the center ensures the burger cooks evenly and stays flat. Letting the patties rest allows the juices to redistribute.
